2026 Lady Jags Softball Preview

Well, it’s already GAME WEEK for Northridge Lady Jags softball for the 2026 season. We caught up with head coach Greg Kosloff to get some pertinent information on this year’s team. Coach K is in his fourth season at Northridge, with this being his third as head coach.

Kosloff is very upbeat about his team. He is confident that his offense can put the ball in play and is returning eight starters/spot starters from the 2025 season. Depth will be a strength and Kosloff is expecting improved performance from the Lady Jags’ bench. Kosloff also noted that he has multiple players who can play multiple positions, which should strengthen the defense. The Lady Jags also have multiple options, at the pitching position. “We have four players who can step in the circle and pitch – the most experience in my years as head coach,” said Kosloff.

Northridge will have four seniors that will be supported by some talented juniors and sophomores. Kosloff also has a strong group of freshmen. The Lady Jags are a somewhat young team, but that youth doesn’t lack experience. Quite a few of them have actually been playing with the varsity since middle school, with multiple players having started as seventh graders. “I’m very excited about the makeup of this team. We have four seniors to mix in with some really good juniors and sophomores. I really think this team has a chance to have its first winning season since 2014.”

The Lady Jags will have some quality leadership in multiple spots. Mary Hayes Henderson (senior) and Anna Grace Reed (sophomore) have both started or have been playing on the varsity team since eighth grade. Mary Hayes, a 2026 Captain, has been Northridge’s workhorse in the circle the past two seasons, and will also play first base. Lead-off hitter Reed will get reps at short stop and in center field. Reed hit over .500 least season and did not strike out in 93 official at-bats. Kosloff calls Reed a student of the game who runs well and is a catalyst for the team.

Although she missed last season due to injury, Anna Cate Henderson (freshman) started as a seventh grader and hit over .400 for that season. In addition to pitching duties, Anna Cate catches and can play any position, when needed. Junior Mills Hitchner will be in center field and will also see time at short stop. At the plate, Hitchner hits with power and is also an excellent bunter who led the team in stolen bases for the 2025 season.

Also keep an eye out for eighth grader Millie Tucker, who pitched for the Lady Jags in the area and regional tournaments last year, as a seventh grader. Tucker has has the talent to be a top starter in the circle but can also play in the infield and outfield.

While the 2026 Lady Jags are mostly underclassmen, that youth has a lot of game experience, not only on the high school diamond, but also through travel ball in the off season. That experience and versatility have the potential to make the 2026 Northridge Lady Jags a successful team that should be fun to watch.

The 2026 season will kick off this Thursday, when the Lady Jags travel to Pickens Academy to take on the Pirates.
