Northridge Boys Basketball drop Wildcats, 78-51
In the last game of the evening at The Ridge, the Jags handily defeated the visiting Hale County Wildcats by 27 points. Northridge used strong second and third quarter showings to take a commanding lead and held onto that lead in the fourth quarter to soundly defeat the Wildcats, 78-51.
Both teams came out hot in the first quarter, with Northridge outscoring Hale County, 19-15. The Jags increased that opening quarter output by one, tacking on 20 points, while holding the Wildcats to four fewer points. The9-point quarter disparity gave Northridge a 13-points lead at 39-26, going into halftime.
The Jags continued to better their quarterly totals, adding 22 points to their total, while holding the Wildcats to single digits, with only seven points scored. The result was a commanding 61-33 lead. The final stanza was the only time Hale County outscored Northridge, with the Wildcats adding 18 points to the Jags’ 17 points. The 28 points lead was trimmed to the final margin of victory, 27, as the Jags took the win, 78-51.
Northridge had three total double figures in the scoring column. Jordan Suiter led the way with 12 points, followed by Kyle Nunnally with 11 and Andrew Matthews with 10. Taraves Jones added nine points, while Adam Hall and Alex Warren added eight apiece. Anderson Wilkin and Ryan Halperin totaled seven points each. Jalen Green ended the evening with four points and Garrett Ingram rounded out the scoring for the Jags with two.
Suiter also led the Jags on the boards, with eight total rebounds. Anderson Wilkin pulled down six boards, with Green and Halperin totaling five rebounds each. Nunnally added three rebounds, while Matthews, Jones and Miles Phifer added two rebounds each. Ingram, Hall and Warren snagged a single rebound each.
