Jags close out the 2025 season with a goal line stand for the W
The Northridge Jaguars traveled north on I-20/59 to Adamsville to take on the Minor Tigers for the final game of the 2025 season. After missing the playoffs, the Jags needed a win to end the season on a high note. After trailing 7-3 at the half, the Jags battled with the Tigers and took a 26-19 lead with under 10 minutes to go. After giving up a touchdown with under eight minutes to go, Northridge held Minor on three tries inside the 5-yard line to claim 26-25 win to end the season.

The first half was slow going for both teams. After the Tigers took a 7-0 lead with 6:06 to go in the first quarter, Hick Finison got the Jags on the board with a 24-yard field goal at the 1:32 mark of the opening quarter. Neither team put points on the board in the second quarter.
After the Jags kicked to start the second half, fortune turned in Northridge’s favor when they recovered a Minor fumble on the second play after the kickoff. Mayson Elam and Tate Espey connected for a Jag touchdown. Finison tacked on the PAT. That gave Northridge its first lead of the evening at 10-7 with 8:35 to go in the third quarter.

The Tigers reclaimed the lead shortly afterward, on a long touchdown pass. The PAT was blocked, leaving the Tigers with a 13-10 lead with 7:17 to go in the third quarter.
On the next Northridge possession, Elam and Espey hooked up again, with Espey shedding a tackle after the catch and outracing everyone to the end zone. The Finison PAT gave the Jags a 17-13 lead with 5:39 to go on the third quarter.

After trading punts, Minor retook the lead on a long catch-and-run touchdown pass. The Jag defense stuffed the two point try, leaving Minor with a 19-17 lead with 2:19 remaining in the third quarter.
After the ensuing Jag drive stalled, Tregre Benoit dropped a punt inside the Minor 15-yard line. A couple negative plays moved the ball toward the goal line for the Tigers. A bad snap resulted in a safety and a 19-19 tie with 10:11 to go in the game.
A few plays after the free kick, Damarcus Wilder got loose on a long run, down to the Minor 3-yard line. Elam punched it in from there and Finison’s kick gave the Jags a 26-19 lead with 9:38 to go.

The Tigers trimmed the lead to 26-25 on their next possession. However, the 2-point try, for the lead, resulted in a pass off the hands of the intended Minor receiver. The Jags held the one point lead with 7:36 to go.
Following a Northridge punt, the Tigers moved the ball down inside the Jags’ 5-yard line. From there, the Jag defense stood strong and delivered a goal line stand on a fourth down try at the 1-yard line, with under two minutes to go. The Jags moved the ball out to the 3-yard line and ran out the clock from there, to claim the win in the season finale, 26-25.
