Lady Jags edge Hewitt-Trussville, 56-54

The Northridge Lady Jags survived an all-out battle with the visiting Hewitt-Trussville Huskies on Friday at The Ridge. While Northridge grabbed an early lead, Hewitt-Trussville gave the Lady Jags a run for their money, with the Lady Jags eventually escaping with a two point victory.

The Lady Jags used their usual full court pressure to gain a 20-9 advantage after one quarter. However, the Lady Huskies formulated an effective response that resulted in a 29-24 halftime lead for Hewitt-Trussville.

The script reverted back to an almost exact match of the first quarter, when the Lady Jags scored 21 points in the third and held the Lady Huskies to 9. After starting the fourth quarter with a three point lead, 41-38, Northridge was able to hold off several surges by Hewitt-Trussville to hang on for a 56-54 victory.

Jakeya Horton led Northridge with 25 points. Aleia Morrell totaled 17 points on the evening. Ryan Bardenwerper added 12 points and Taylor Ivory finished with two points.
