Jags come up short against Stampede, 50-42

Different gym. Very similar games, just 10 fewer points for both teams. The Northridge Jaguars hosted the defending 6A state champs and came up eight points short for the second time in two weeks. Although the final score was eight points, the Jags were within striking distance once again, late in the game, but just couldn’t finish the comeback.

The Stampede jumped out to a lead in the first quarter, and never gave up said lead. After one quarter, Northridge was down by six, 13-7. Bryant outscored the Jags 10-5 in the second quarter, building their halftime lead to 23-12.

Both teams had their best offensive output in the third quarter, with Bryant adding 16 to its total and Northridge adding 17. That resulted in the Stampede taking a 39-29 lead into the final quarter. At one point, the Jags got within six, but Bryant held Northridge at bay and eventually claimed the 50-42 win.

Elias Fleming and Mize Parker led the Jags on the scoresheet and were the only two in double digits, with 12 and 10 points respectively. Adam Hall contributed nine points on the evening. Tavares Jones finished with six points. Andrew Matthews had four and Garrett Ingram rounded out the Northridge scoring with three points.

The loss sets Northridge as the second place team for regular season area play and sets up the area tournament for Cottondale.
