Jags advance to 6A Area 6 Championship with win over Panthers, 72-50

The Northridge Jaguars kicked off the 2025-2026 AHSAA Class 6A Area 6 tournament with their third win of the season over the Brookwood Panthers. The 22-point victory puts the Jags in the championship game which will be held at 6PM on Saturday.

Northridge ended the first quarter on the wrong end of a 19-17 score. The Panthers came out hot and answered everything the Jags threw at them. Northridge got on track and played better defense to flip the game in their favor, outscoring the Brookwood 17-6 in the second quarter. That afforded the Jags a 34-16 lead at the half.

The Jags continued to build their momentum, scoring 22 in the third quarter, while allowing 12 for the Panthers. Northridge started the final quarter with an 18-point lead at 56-38. The total scoring dropped a bit in the fourth quarter, with the Jags outscoring Brookwood 16-12. That gave the Jags a 72-50 victory and sends them to the championship game on Saturday.

Adam Hall led Northridge with 16 points. Andrew Matthews, Tavares Jones, Elias Fleming and Garrett Ingram also finished in double digits, with 13, 12, 11 and 10 points, respectively. Max Bruinton contributed four points. James Walker, Thomas Patton and Miller James finished with two points each.

The Jags will travel across town to face the defending 6A state champion Paul W. Bryant Stampede at 6PM on Saturday, Feb. 6.
