Jags soaked by Isaias and Purple Tigers, 31-7

On a Hurricane Isaias rain-soaked night, the Northridge Jaguars never really gained much traction on the natural grass at The Ridge. The visiting Purple Tigers gained an early advantage and never really gave the Jags much of an opportunity to make a game of it. Bessemer City claimed a 17-0 lead by the end of the first quarter and allowed the Jaguars their lone touchdown in the second quarter before scoring another touchdown before the half. The visitors added one more insurance touchdown near the end of the third quarter and walked off with a 31-7 win.

After Bessemer City jumped out to a 17-0 lead after one quarter of play, the Northridge got their lone touchdown of the evening when Max Bruinton hit Demeriyan Cotton in the back of the end zone for a touchdown. Hicks Finison connected on the PAT, leaving the Jags with a 17-7 disadvantage with 8:50 to go in the second quarter.

The Tigers added a score just a little under two minutes later to extend the lead back to 17, for the 24-1 halftime lead. Bessemer City would add another seven with 1:10 to go in the third, to give the final score of the game and eventually take the 31-7 win.

In the loss, Bruinton completed 11t of 22 pass attempts, for a total of 73 yards, with one touchdown. Tate Espey collected five catches for 29 yards. Cotton had three catches for 22 yards and one touchdown. Julian Crenshaw hauled in two passes for 20 yards and Dre Young had one catch for two yards.

On the ground, Crenshaw totaled 34 yards on 17 carries. Da’marcus Wilder finished with seven yards on two carries. Carson Mooney also had two carries for seven yards. Espey had two carries for two yards.

Wilder led the defense with 12 total tackles. Trindon Henderson finished with 10 total tackles. Jaylen Marshall and Devin Brown collected 7 total tackles. Christian McLaurin and Kamari Mickens finished with six tackles. Anthony Hyche, Jaden Wright and Javeon Jenkins collected five total tackles each, on the evening. Henderson and Hyche both recorded one sack in the game.

The Jaguars will host the Hueytown Golden Gophers on Friday at the Ridge. The game will serve as the 2026 Homecoming game.
