Lady Jags Volleyball punches ticket to Super Regionals

The Northridge Lady Jags volleyball team hosted the Pelham Lady Panthers on Monday evening for a winner-takes-all match to advance to the Super Regionals in Montgomery.

Pelham came out hot and stayed in front of Northridge for most of the first set. The Lady Panthers eventually took the the 25-21 win.

The Lady Jags righted the ship and battled to take the next three sets. In both the second and third sets, Northridge and Pelham traded leads, but the Lady Jags eventually got ahead and held the Lady Panthers at bay. Northridge claimed the second set, 25-18, and the third set, 25-16.

The fourth set was worth the price of admission, on its own. After the Lady Jags got out in front, the Lady Panthers had no intention of going out quietly. Pelham knotted the score at 25-25, but Northridge was able to overcome the charge from Pelham and won the fourth set, 28-26, to claim the 3-1 win.

McKenzie Small led the Lady Jags with 17 digs and two aces. Lucy Formby collected 16 digs and delivered two aces. Nola Gillespie led Northridge with 7 aces, and added four blocks and five kills. Avery Warren delivered 12 kills and had 10 digs.

Northridge is set to take on Saraland in the South Super Regional at 9AM on Thursday at the Multiplex at Cramton Bowl in Montgomery.
