Jags Baseball gets 3-2 win over Bibb County

After dropping a 5-3 game to Madison Central, the Jags Baseball team ended the 2024 Spring Break schedule with a close, road victory over the Bibb County Choctaws. With the game tied 2-2, the Jags tacked on the winning run in the top of the seventh and shut down the Choctaws in the bottom half, for the 3-2 win.

Bibb County scored one run in the bottom of the first inning and held onto that lead before the Jags tied it up in the top of the sixth. After a ground out, Cade Senn got things going by bunting his way onto base and stealing second. Mayson Elam reached on a ground ball error and Senn advanced to third. Kyle Nunnally sacrificed to center to score Senn, to tie things up at 1-1.

The Jags took a 2-1 lead in the top of the seventh when Jack Sanderson led off with a single, advanced to third on a sacrifice from Evan Malone and scored on Anthony Messina’s infield single. However, the Choctaws came back and scored a game-tying run in the bottom of the seventh, to end regulation at 2-2.

Milo Obradovich led off the free baseball period with a triple to right field. Sanderson sacrificed to left to plate Obradovich with the go-ahead run. That was all the Jags could put together in the top of the inning. The Jags sat down the Choctaws in the bottom of the eighth with two ground outs and a final strikeout, for the 3-2 victory.

Messina led the Jags with two hits on the day. Nunnally, Obradovich, Sanderson, Malone, Logan Caldwell and Senn collected individual hits for Northridge. Obradovich, Sanderson and Senn scored the three runs for the Jags. Nunnally, Sanderson and Messina tallied one RBI each.

Malone went 4-2/3 innings on the mound, striking out three and giving up one earned run on two hits. Senn got the win, going 3-1/3 innings with two strikeouts and surrendering one run and giving up one hit.
