Jags Baseball falls at McAdory on walk-off, 9-8

The Jags went into the bottom of the seventh leading McAdory 8-7. However, a single with two outs plated two runs for the Yellow Jackets, giving them a 9-8 win over the Jags.

Neither team got on the board in the first two innings, but the visiting Jags picked up two runs in the top of the third. The Jags picked up those two runs with two outs, when Anthony Messina and Milo Obradovich crossed the plate after a Thomas Woolf single to right field. A single, a wild pitch and a single to center allowed McAdory pick up a single run in the bottom of the inning with two outs. The Jags led 2-1 after three.

Northridge picked up another run in the top of the fourth, to take a 4-1 lead. Case Senn led off the inning with a single and advanced all the way to third on a error by McAdory. A subsequent double play allowed Senn to score from third. The Yellow Jackets picked up a run in the bottom of the third, to make it a 3-2 game.

The Jags heated up in the top of the fourth, increasing their lead to four runs, at a seemingly comfortable 6-2. Evan Malone led off with a single and advanced to second on a wild pitch. With one out, Kyle Nunnally reached first and advanced to second on an error by McAdory. Malone scored on the play. Nunnally advanced to third on a wild pitch and scored when Wyatt Rath reached on an error. Senn successfully bunted Rath to second and reached first. Rath advanced to third on another McAdory wild pitch, with Sennd advancing to second. Logan Caldwell sacrificed to first, allowing Rath to score and Senn to advance to third. The Jags shut down the Yellow Jackets in the bottom of the fourth to close the inning with the 6-2 lead.

Northridge extended the lead to 7-2 in the top of the sixth when Milo Obradovich doubled and eventually scored on a bases loaded walk. McAdory picked up four runs in the bottom of the inning to close the gap to 7-6.

The Jags picked up their eighth run of the game, to stretch their lead back to two at 8-6, in the top of the seventh. Anthony Messina reached base on a single, then scored on a McAdory error. McAdory started the bottom of the seventh by picking up a walk, then scoring a run on a double, cutting the Jags’ lead to 8-7. The batter advanced to third on the throw. A walk and stolen base put McAdory runners on second and third. Things looked better for the Jags when they picked up the second out of the inning on a strikeout. Northridge’s fortunes took a turn for the worse when the next McAdory batter sent a line drive to right to score the tying and winning runs, handing the Jags the 9-8 loss.

Obradovich led the Jags at the plate, going 3-for-5 with a double. Malone and Senn both collected two hits for the Jags. Ford Cole, Messina and Woolf tallied one hit each. Messina and Obradovich scored two runs each, with Malone, Nunnally, Rath and Senn scoring one each. Woolf collected two RBIs. Nunnally, Rath and Caldwell were credited with one RBI each. Messina and Obradovich crossed the plate two times each. Malone, Nunnally, Rath and Senn scored one run each.

Caldwell went four innings for the Jags, striking out eight with no walks, while allowing six hits and only two earned runs. Caden Chaney worked two innings, with two strikeouts and two walks, surrendering three earned runs on four hits. Brett Story picked up one strikeout and issued one walk in relief of Chaney.
