Jags Baseball sweeps ACA series with 6-2 Saturday win
The Northridge Jaguars baseball team completed the regular season sweep of American Christian Academy on the Patriots’ home field on Saturday. After taking the 8-4 win at The Ridge on Thursday, Milo Obradovich turned in a yearbook worthy stat line to lead the Jags to the win, 6-2.
Obradovich went 4-for-4 at the plate with two doubles and two homeruns, tallying 5 RBIs and collecting 12 total bases along the way. Obradovich also showed some defensive skills, tagging out a runner at the plate and gunning down a Patriot that strayed too far off first, ending the game.
After Kyle Nunnally drew a walk, Obradovich got his first hit and RBI of the day on a double to center field. Jack Sanderson followed Obradovich with a double of his own to center, plating Obradovich. The Jags held the Patriots in check in the bottom half of the inning, to lead 2-0 after one.
Evan Malone got things going in the second inning with a single to right. Ford Cole moved Malone to second on a sacrifice. Malone took third on a wild pitch and Mayson Elam drew a walk, to put runners at the corners. Then, Obradovich stepped to the plate for his second at-bat of the day and cleared the bases with a homerun to right. The 3-run homer would be all of the scoring for the Jags in the third inning, with the Jags holding a 5-0 lead.
Both teams had quiet bats until the top of the fifth. As the lead-off for the Jags, Obradovich picked up his second homer of the game, again to right field. That run would be the only run of the inning for the Jags, but gave them a 6-0 lead. The Patriots got back two of those runs on their own two-run homerun in the bottom of the inning. That would be the end of the scoring, with the Jags taking the 6-2 win and regular season series sweep of the Patriots.
In addition to Obradovich’s leading stat line referenced above, Elam, Sanderson and Malone ended the day with two hits each. Thomas Woolf added one more hit for the Jags. Elam, Nunnally and Malone scored one run each, to go with Obradovich’s three runs scored. Elam also added a stolen base.
Anthony Messina went the distance on the mound, striking out three, walking one and giving up only two earned runs.
