Jags complete sweep of Falcons in area play, 57-28
Northridge Hoops completed the area sweep of the Central Falcons on Tuesday at The Ridge. The Jags doubled up the Falcons in the first quarter and didn’t slow down until the last period, en route to a 57-28 win.
Northridge got out to a decent start, doubling up Central after one quarter, 14-7. The Jags opened up a little in the second quarter, adding 20 points and allowing only three from the Falcons. Northridge went into the locker room at the half, up 34-10.
The third quarter looked exactly like the second in the Jags’ third quarter, with the Jags adding another 20 points to their total. Central did manage to more than double their output in the first half, scoring 13. Even so, the Jags held a 54-23 lead at the end of three quarters. The last stanza was mostly uneventful for both teams, with Northridge adding only three points and Central adding five. That left the Jags with a 57-28 area victory over the Falcons.
The Jags hit an overall 50% from the field, as opposed to Central’s 25% shooting. Other notables were the Jags outscoring the Falcons 36-10 in the paint and Northridge’s 22-2 advantage in points off turnovers. The Jags also dished out 14 assists to the Falcons’ one assist.
As the only Jag in double figures, Anderson Wilkin led Northridge with 14 points. Garrett Ingram and Tavares Jones netted eight points each. Jordan Suiter added seven points. Kyle Nunnally followed with five points and Ryan Halperin contributed four points. James Walker and Miller James tossed in three points apiece. Jalen Green and Adam Hall added two points each. Alex Warren rounded out the Jags’ scoring column with one point.
Wilkin, Halperin and Warren pulled down four rebounds each. Walker collected two rebounds. Nunnally, Ingram, Green, Jones, James and Miles Phifer grabbed one rebound each.
