Jags dominate Bibb County on Senior Night, 48-21

The last regular season game of Northridge Hoops 2023-2024 season was an honorable tribute to its four seniors. The Jags dominated the game against Bibb County from the start and failed to score double digits in only the last quarter. The Jags didn’t give up double digits in any single quarter for the entirety of the game. In the end, the seniors were treated to a 48-21 win over the visiting Choctaws.

2-1-2024 — Tuscaloosa, Ala. — Ryan Halperin goes up for a layup against the Bibb County Choctaws.

The Jags raced out to a 14-2 lead in the first quarter, acquiring 12 of those 14 from beyond the 3-point stripe. The second quarter was more of the same, with the Jags outscoring the Choctaws 16-5, resulting in a 30-7 halftime lead.

Scoring for the Jags slowed a bit in the third quarter, only putting 13 points on the board. The Choctaws were held to another five point period. The fourth quarter saw a good number of minutes played by Jags with clean jerseys. The Choctaws almost managed to put up double digits in the quarter, but fell one short. The Jags only tacked on five points, three of those by Tavares Jones and two from Alex Warren. In the end, the Jags logged a 48-21 win.

2-1-2024 — Tuscaloosa, Ala. — Alex Warren launches a 3-pointer against the Bibb County Choctaws.

Only one Jag scored in double digits, senior Jonas Wilkin with 11. Jordan Suiter followed with seven points. Senior John Walker and Ryan Halperin tallied six each. Alex Warren contributed five points. Jalen Green, Marquez Barrera and Jones totaled three each. Kyle Nunnally and senior Jack Sanderson rounded out the scoring column with two points each.

Anderson Wilkin dished out four assists on the night. Sanderson had two assists and Nunnally, Barrera, Halperin and Warren contributed one assist each.

Sanderson collected eight rebounds and Walker followed closely with seven boards. Anderson Wilkin, Halperin and Jonas Wilkin tallied four rebounds each. Nunnally, Suiter and Warren pulled down two rebounds each. Barrera, Jones and senior Tre Turner got in the book with one rebound each.

The Jags completed the regular season with a 24-4 record, going 5-2 in area play. Next up for the Jags is the area tournament across town at Paul W. Bryant High School. The Jags will face the Hillcrest Patriots at 6:00pm on Tuesday, Feb. 6.
