The Northridge Jaguars traveled to the far eastern side of the state on Friday to take on the Russell County Warriors in the first round of the 2024 AHSAA Class 6A State Football Playoff. Northridge followed that with three consecutive first down catches from Rowdy Christensen to Kapilovic, Tye Welton and Mayson Elam. Unfortunately, the drive ended with a 94-yard pick-6 by the Warriors. The PAT gave Russell County a 21-3 lead with 5:36 to go in the third quarter.
Christensen and Elam got the Jags back on the board on the following possession. Elam hauled in a pass across the middle and carried it into the end zone with 2:45 on the third quarter clock. Scofield added the PAT to close the Warrior lead to 21-10.
After trading interceptions, one by Brylon Tubbs in the end zone, the Warriors stretched their lead to 28-10 on a 30-yard run and PAT with 0:31 on the clock in the third quarter.
Russell County logged its second pick-6 of the night at the 9:17 mark of the fourth quarter and the successful PAT increased the Warrior lead to 35-10.
