Jags Girls Soccer tops McAdory, 9-3

Northridge Girls soccer traveled to McAdory to take on the Lady Yellow Jackets and came away with a 9-3 win on Thursday.

Senior Kenley Myers opened the scoring just over three minutes in, on a breakaway goal. Ella Johnson got the assist on the goal.

McAdory tied the score up at 1-1 before Freshman Mary Carson James scored her first goal of the game in the 15th minute to put the Lady Jags up 2-1.  James scored the next two goals for Northridge after that, both coming off assists from Myers.  Sophomore Maddie McVeagh closed out the Lady Jags’ scoring in the first half, with another assist from Myers. The Lady Jags took a 5-2 lead into halftime.

Just three minutes into the second half, the Yellow Jackets cut the lead to 5-3, but that was as close as the Lady Yellow Jackets would get. Ella Johnson scored a goal off of a cross from Freshman Emma Sanderford, in the 11th minute of the second half.

James then scored two consecutive goals, giving her FIVE goals for the match. The goals were assisted by Maddie Vanderlyke and Kenley Myers (who had FOUR assists on the day). Vanderlyke also got in the scoring column with the final goal of the game with eight minutes left in the second half. Vanderlyke’s goal gave the Lady Jags their final margin of victory at 9-3.
