Jags Golf headed to State

The Northridge Boys Golf team qualified to play for a state championship by finishing in second place at the sub-state tournament held at Cottonwood Golf Club in Montgomery. The Jags posted an 11-over par (299) second place finish, behind a 6-over (294) from the UMS-Wright team. Other teams competing in the tournament were Spanish Fort (+19), Briarwood Christian (+30), Helena (+43), McGill-Toolen (+44), Hillcrest-Tuscaloosa (+45) and Robertsdale (+58).

The top four scores of the five man team counted toward the team score. Caleb Terrell and Taylor Chambers both finished with an even-par 72. Jace Duckworth carded a 77 (+5) and Thomas Patton finished with a 78 (+6). Mason Jones carded an 85 (+13) on the day.

In individual competition, Graham Patton carded a 74 (+2) and Andrew Mathews finished with a 77 (+5).

The Jags will head to Muscle Shoals to compete for a state title next Monday and Tuesday (May 13-14). The Jags will play for the championship on the Fighting Joe course at The Shoals.
