Jags Hoops crushes Central in region opener, 67-16
The Northridge Jags kicked off region play with a bang on Friday evening at Central. After starting the game with a 10-0 run, the Jags gave up the most points of any quarter, allowing the Falcons to go on a 6-2 run to end the first quarter. However, it was all Jags from there on out as the Jags outscored the Falcons 55-10 to claim the region opener.
As mentioned, the first quarter saw the Jags take a 12-6 lead. The Jags blew the game open in the second quarter, scoring 20 points and only allowing two. Adam Hall’s three pointer at the halftime buzzer gave the Jags a 32-8 lead going into the locker room.
Northridge didn’t cool off during halftime, adding another 21-points in the third quarter, while holding Central to just four, for a 53-12 lead after three quarters. When the final buzzer sounded, the Jags had added another 14-points to their total, with only one Jag not making it into the scoring column. Central managed to add another four points, resulting in the 67-16 final.
The Jags hit 51.1% from the floor on the evening, going 17/28 (60.7%) from inside the arc and hitting 7/19 (36.8%) from outside the arc. Northridge also hit 12 of 14 free throws for 85.7% from the line.
Jordan Suiter led the Jags with 15 points with Anderson Wilkin joining him in double digits with 13 points. Garrett Ingram added seven points for Northridge. Jalen Green and Tavares Jones added six points each. Adam Hall and Miller James totaled five points each. Alex Warren added three points. Kyle Nunnally, Andrew Matthews and Miles Phifer finished with two points and Ryan Halperin ended the evening with one point.
Green and Suiter led the Jags on the boards with four rebounds each. Warren pulled down three boards. Ingram, Matthews, Wilkin, Jones, Hall and James collected two rebounds each. Nunnally, James Walker and Halperin added one rebound each to the Jags’ rebound total.
