Jags vanquish Vikings, 75-52
The Vikings of Jasper High School came calling at the Ridge, but the Jags were up to the test and convincingly defended their home court. Utilizing a 16-2 run, at one points, Northridge jumped out to a double digit lead in the first quarter and held a double digit lead for the remainder of the game. The end result was a 23-point victory over the Vikings.
The Jags were actually down 7-4 early in the first quarter, but used a 16-2 run to end the quarter with a 20-9 lead. Northridge duplicated their first quarter output in the second, adding another 20 points and took a 40-20 lead into halftime.
Per the scoreboard, Northridge cooled off just a bit when they opened the second half with 17 points in the third quarter. The Vikings were able to get 14, but the Jags still lead 57-34 at the end of three quarters of play. The fourth quarter saw a wholesale exodus of starters for Northridge, but the bench still put 15 points on the board. Jasper was able to get its most points of a single quarter by scoring 18, but the Jags took the 75-57 win at the final buzzer.
Northridge had a great shooting night, hitting 56% from the field, while the Jag defense held the Viking to 38%. The Jags went 11-of-21 from behind the arc, hitting 52.4% of their 3-pointers. Northridge went 8-for-12 from the charity stripe.
Anderson Wilkin led the Jags with 16 points and was joined in the double digit category by Jalen Green and Jordan Suiter, who both totaled 11 points. Kyle Nunnally added seven points for the Jags. Garrett Ingram and Alex Warren contributed six points each. Ryan Halperin, Adam Hall and Miller James got in the scorebook with four points each. Tavares Jones and Miles Phifer added two points apiece.
Wilkin collected seven rebounds for Northridge and Green was next, with six rebounds. Hall collected five rebounds and Phifer totaled four rebounds. Halperin added three rebounds. Nunnally, Ingram and Suiter were credited with two rebounds each. Jones and James Walker collected one rebound each.
