Lady Jags are your Thanksgiving Jam Champs

The Northridge Lady Jags were the second Northridge varsity basketball team to claim a tournament title over the Thanksgiving break, taking the title of the 2025 Jaguar Thanksgiving Jam. The Lady Jags didn’t have to travel quite as far as the boys, winning the title on their home court. The Lady Jags unrelenting full-court pressure took its toll on all three of their opponents over the course of the tournament. Coupled with good shooting, it was a recipe that produced 18-, 40- and 27-point wins over three days, with the final being a 76-29 victory over the Wetumpka Lady Indians in the title game.

Although it took a couple minutes for Northridge to get the lid off the basket, they finished the first quarter with an 8-point advantage, 19-11. The second quarter was a little closer, with the Lady Jags scoring 14 to the Lady Indian’s 10, which gave Northridge a 33-21 lead at the half.

The third quarter saw Wetumpka close the scoring disparity a little, but still get outscored 17-14, resulting in the 50-35 Northridge lead. The Lady Jags got tuned in in the final quarter, scoring 26 while allowing 14. When the final buzzer sounded, the Lady Jags walked away with the 76-46 victory.

Jakeya Horton led the Lady Jags with 23 points. Ryan Bardenwerper and La’Miah Foy collected 15 points each. Taylor Ivory netted 11 points. Avay Maye totaled eight points and Aleia Morrell rounded out the scoring with four.

Bardenwerper and Morrell were named to the All-Tournament Team and Horton was the Tournament MVP.
