Lady Jags Basketball opens region play with win over Central
The Northridge Lady Jags basketball team traveled across the river Friday, to open region play at Central. Even though struggling at times, the Lady Jags never trailed at the end of a quarter, with the most important one being the last to come out on top 46-36 in their first region game of the season.
After falling behind 7-1 with a little over five minutes to go in the first quarter, the Lady Jags got on track with a 9-point run and ended the first quarter with a 10-7 lead. Northridge stretched that 3-point lead to a 4-point lead going into the half at 20-15.
The Lady Jags scored the least of any single quarter, when they put up only eight points in the third quarter. The Lady Falcons managed to best Northridge by one, resulting in a 4-point lead at 28-24 at the end of the third quarter. Central put up a good effort in the final stanza, scoring 12 points. However, the Lady Jags lit up their side of the scoreboard for 18 points, for the 46-36 final.
Taylor Ivory led the Lady Jags in scoring, totaling 15 points on the evening. Ava Maye followed with 10 points. RB Norris and Aleia Morrell added eight points each. La’Miah Foy chipped in three points and Malia Barrera ended the evening with two points.
