Lady Jags claim area crown with 48-27 win over Bryant

The Northridge Lady Jags are your AHSAA Class 6A Area 6 Champions!!! The Lady Jags claimed the area crown by defeating the Paul W. Bryant Lady Stampede at The Ridge, 48-27, on Tuesday night.

Northridge started a bit on the slow side, leading 10-6 after one quarter of play. But, in typical fashion, the Lady Jags started warming up in the second quarter and went on a 17-5 run, to open up a 27-11 lead at the half.

Northridge kept pulling away, stretching their lead to 21 in the third quarter, at 38-17. The Lady Stampede never folded, though, and they kept the pressure on the Lady Jags the entire game. The 21-point final margin of victory didn’t really feel safe until about two minutes remained in the game. In the end, Northridge walked away with a 48-27 win.

Ava Maye led the Lady Jags with 14 points. Aleia Morrell totaled 11 on the evening. RB Norris added 10 points. La’Miah Foy contributed nine and Taylor Ivory finished up the scoring column with four points.

Maye, Morrell and Norris collected All-Tournament honors and Norris was awarded the area tournament MVP.
