Lady Jags drop Columbus, 56-29
The Northridge Lady Jags introduced the visiting Columbus (MS) Lady Falcons to their high-pressure full court press Tuesday evening. And, the result was the same as it has been thus far this season. The Lady Falcons entered the fourth quarter with only 16 points on the board and, even though they had almost the same output in the final quarter as the previous three, eventually succumbed to Northridge, 56-29,
After one quarter, the Lady jags held a 5-point lead at 11-6. Northridge added 10 points and Columbus added seven in the second quarter, resulting in the 21-13 lead for the Lady Jags, at the half.
Northridge’s offensive output held steady in the third quarter, scoring 13 points. However, the Lady Jags held the Lady Falcons to only three, increasing their lead to 34-16. Columbus warmed up and came close to doubling their score from the first three quarters, scoring 13 in the fourth quarter. However, Northridge also ramped up their scoring, netting 22 points for the quarter. When the final buzzer sounded, Northridge claimed the 56-29 victory.
Aleia Morrell led the Lady Jags in the scoring column with 16 points. She also added six rebounds, four assists and two steals. Jakeya Horton and Ryan Bardenwerper ended the evening with 10 points each. Bardenwerper added seven rebounds and two steals. Horton claimed five rebounds and got one steal. Ava Maye tallied nine points, collected three rebounds and was credited with two steals. Taylor Ivory finished with seven points, four rebounds, two assists and two steals. La’Miah Foy totaled four points, collected six rebounds and had one assist and two steals.
