Lady Jags make easy work of Sipsey Valley on Senior Night
The Northridge Lady Jags basketball team gave their lone (but injured) senior Tremyah Washington a lop-sided victory over the visiting Sipsey Valley Lady Bears on Senior Night at The Ridge. The slimmest quarterly margin that the Lady Jags ever had was the 9-point lead after the first quarter, 13-4. In the second and thrid quarters, Northridge poured it on. A somewhat lazy fourth quarter of only four points, still didn’t change the outcome, with the Lady Jags claiming a 59-23 win on Senior Night.
As mentioned, the Lady Jags secured a 13-4 lead after one quarter. While the Lady Bears did add seven to their total in the second quarter, seven Lady Jags poured in 27 points, resulting in a 40-11 halftime lead.
Northridge’s scoring slowed a bit in the third quarter, scoring “only” 15 points. But Sipsey Valley stayed in single digits with eight points, for a 55-19 lead for the Lady Jags at the end of three quarters. Both teams may have had a little help from a running clock in the last quarter, with both teams only scoring four points. The final was a 59-23 Senior Night win for the Lady Jags.
Malia Barrera and Bayne Brown scored 13 points each for Northridge. RB Norris added 12 points and Aleia Morrell chipped in 10 points. Ava Maye contributed six points and Liz Rice added five.
Morrell led the Lady Jags on the boards, collecting nine rebounds. Maye followed with six rebounds. La’Miyah Foy, Za’Niyah Hudson and Brown totaled four rebounds each. Norris and Rice pulled down one rebound each.
