Lady Jags pick up 4-1 win over Lions in Fayette Tournament

The Northridge Lady Jags softball team traveled to Fayette to face the Hubbertville Lions on Saturday. Northridge used the bottom of the fourth inning to score all their runs, en route to the 4-1 victory.

Hubbertville struck first, in the top of the second inning, scoring a single run for a 1-0 lead that held until the Lady Jags came to the plate in the bottom of the third. Shelby Savage led off with a single to left. Anna Reed then doubled, allowing Savage to advance to third. Anna Cate Henderson followed with a double to center, driving in Savage and Reed. Mills Hitchner recorded the third double in succession for the Lady Jags, scoring Anna Cate Henderson. Up next, Rhylynn Page singled to right, moving Hitchner to third base. After a fly out in foul territory, Mary Hayes Henderson’s fly to center allowed Hitchner to tag up and score the final run of the inning for Northridge for the 4-1 lead.

Due to tournament game time limitations, the game ended in the fourth inning, after the Northridge held Hubbertville scoreless, with the Lady Jags securing a 4-1 victory.

Reed led Northridge at the plate, going 2-for-2 in the time shortened game. Anna Cate Henderson, Hitchner, Page, Sarah Copeland and Savage recorded one hit each. Anna Cate Henderson tallied two RBIs, with Hitchner and Mary Hayes Henderson picking up one RBI apiece. Reed, Anna Cate Henderson, Hitchner and Savage scored one run each for Northridge.

Mary Hayes Henderson faced 19 batters while completing four innings in the circle, striking out four, walking one and giving up only one run on four hits.
