Lady Jags rally to claim 49-40 area win over Bryant

The Northridge Lady Jags started out slow against their visiting area opponent from Paul W. Bryant. The Stampede claimed a 14-point lead after one quarter, at 17-3. However, the Lady Jags went on a 46-23 run to claim the victory in the end.

The Lady Jags got plenty of shots off in the first quarter, but had trouble getting anything to fall. Aleia Morrell was the only Lady Jag to get anything through the hoop, scoring the three points for Northridge on a free throw and a 2-point bucket. The Lady Jags got things warmed up in the second quarter, with RB Norris, Bayne Brown and Morrell adding 17 points for Northridge. The Stampede cooled off considerably, scoring only four points. Northridge went into the half trailing by one, 21-20.

The Lady Jags outscored the Lady Stampede 11-7 in the third quarter, taking a 31-28 lead into the fourth. Northridge saved their best for last, scoring 18 points to Bryant’s 12-point effort. The Lady Jags spread the scoring out, with La’Miah Foy, Malia Barrera, Norris, Brown and Morrell contributing to the effort. The result was a 49-40 area win for the Lady Jags.

Morrell led Northridge with 15 points. Norris added 12 and Foy chipped in 11. Brown finished with eight points and Barrera closed out the scoring with three.
