Lady Jags trounce Wildcats, 57-14

The Northridge Lady Jags hosted in-county rival Tuscaloosa County on Thursday at The Ridge. The Lady Jags lit up the board for 19 and 14 points in the first two quarters, while only allowing four. The big lead put the Lady Wildcats in pinch they just couldn’t recover from. In the end, the Lady Jags claimed a 57-14 victory over the Lady Wildcats.

RB Norris knocked down nine of Northridge’s 19 points in the first quarter. The Lady Jags’ press helped create turnovers and helped hold the Lady Wildcats in check, as evidenced by Tuscaloosa County only getting a single basket in the first quarter, resulting in the 19-2 advantage for Northridge. The Lady Jags cooled off in the second quarter, only scoring 14 points, but again held the Lady Wildcats to two points. Northridge took a 33-4 lead into halftime.

The Lady Jags matched their first quarter offensive output to start the second half, scoring another 19 points. Tuscaloosa County found a little more success, but only managed seven, leaving Northridge with a 52-11 lead after three quarters. The fourth quarter saw the Lady Jags cool off significantly, adding only five to the board, though some of that cooling was due to Northridge being much more methodical on the offensive end of the court. Tuscaloosa County only managed another two points, resulting in the 57-14 Lady Jags victory.

Norris led Northridge with 17 points. Taylor Ivory added nine for the Lady Jags. Aleia Morrell, Tremyah Washington and Ava Maye totaled six points each. La’Miah Foy chipped in five points and Malia Barrera hit a single 3-pointer. Liz Rice and Bayne Brown rounded out the scoring for the Lady Jags, with two points apiece.
