Northridge wrestling sweeps home opener

The Northridge wrestling team made their home debut on Tuesday night. The Jags hosted Central (Tuscaloosa), Shades Valley and Brookwood and walked away with a sweep. Northridge defeated Central 63-6, defeated Shades Valley 59-21 and defeated a tough Brookwood team 42-33. The Jags had eight wrestlers go undefeated on the evening.

Two Jags wrestlers won four matches in the season home opener. Carter Blumenthal went 4-0 on the evening and improved to 16-4. Rodarius Lee also notched a 4-0 evening and improved to 13-5.

Robert Felix was 3-0 on the night and stretched his unblemished streak to 17-0 on the season. Andrew Rath went 3-0, improving to 15-3. JC Rainer notched a 3-0 record for the evening and improved to 9-8. Demarion Cotton went 3-0, raising his season record to 10-7. Donny Burnett went 3-0, moving up to 10-1 for the season. Cruz Lee went 1-0 and improved to 8-10.

Jakob Knapp went 2-1 and improving his season record to 16-3. Jousha Deng ended the night at 2-1, improving to 11-6 overall. And Hunter Evans went 2-1 giving him a team-best lead for the young season at 18-2.
