Tale of the Tape: Bibb County Edition

Well, you probably know by now that things didn’t go like we wanted them to on Friday night against the Bibb County Choctaws. As such, we hope the Jags are performing some maintenance on a few things to make this week’s matchup with Hueytown come out to a better ending. The numbers aren’t great, but we’re here to cheer on the Jags, regardless.

PASSING/RECEIVING: Rowdy Christensen connected on 5-of-8 passes for a total of 64 yards. The longest went to Keith Powell, for 25 yards. Powell had two catches for a total of 39 yards. Parker Cline had two catches for 16 yards, with a long of 14. Brylon Tubbs hauled in one pass for nine yards.

RUSHING: Tubbs led the Jags with 48 yards on 12 carries, with a 13-yard run as the longest. Magnus Greimel totaled 40 yards on six carries with a long of 11. Mayson Elam had six carries for 24 yards and a long of nine yards. Colin Kapilovic made the most of his single, 1-yard carry, which went for the Jags lone touchdown of the night. Powell also had a single carry for a single yard. Christensen was credited with six carries, but ended up 30 yards behind the sticks.

TOTAL YARDS: Cline added 18 kick return yards to his stat line for a total of 34 yards on the evening. Kapilovic added 12 return yards to his touchdown dive, giving him a total of 13 yards. And Elam added another six return yards to his rushing number of 24, for 30 total yards. Tubbs’ rushing and receiving totaled 57 yards.

NOTABLES: Another Jags’ lost fumble directly resulted in points for an opponent. That’s the seventh time this year that has happened. Bibb County is a solid football team – good coaching and good players. Losses are never good, but sometimes you just run into someone who just outplays you. The Jags didn’t do anything to give the game away. Northridge is currently sitting in the third spot (technically tied for second with Bessemer City and Hueytown) in Class 6A Region 4. With a win over Hueytown this Friday night, the Jags could make that a two team split for second place.
