Tale of the Tape: P.W. Bryant Edition
The Jags picked up a must-win victory on Friday night in Cottondale. After jumping out to a 21-0 lead, the Jags finished the game at 28-14 to keep their playoff hopes alive. Let’s take a look at who did what against the Paul W. Bryant Stampede.
PASSING/RECEIVING: Rowdy Christensen connected on 12 of his 15 pass attempts and collected 198 yards with one touchdown. Mayson Elam was on the receiving end of six of those passes. Elam totaled 114 yards and notched one touchdown on the night. His longest catch went for 31 yards. Colin Kapilovic, Parker Cline and Brylon Tubbs hauled in two passes each. Kapilovic totaled 46 yards with a long of 40 yards. Cline totaled 20 yards with a long of 11 and Tubbs totaled 17 yards with a long of 14 yards.
RUSHING: Tubbs led the Jags toting the rock, collecting 90 yards and one touchdown with a long run of 24 yards. Magnus Greimel got 11 carries and totaled 40 yards. His longest run was 13 yards and his lone touchdown broke the ice for the Jags on their first possession. Sporting a cast on his right forearm, Jacob Hall returned with a splash. Hall made his three carries count, totaling 20 yards and scoring one touchdown. His longest carry went for 14 yards. Christensen ended the night with two carries for two yards, with a longest run of 8 yards.
TOTAL YARDS: When you add all those numbers up in their respective categories, the Jags rushed for 152 yards on 32 carries with 198 yards through the air for a total of 350 yards. Tubbs had one kick return for 34 yards and Amani Knox added a kickoff return of 10 yards.
NOTABLES: This Friday will be a really big day for the Jags. In addition to being tagged as Homecoming for Northridge, the Jags will host Bessemer City. The Tigers have compiled a 6-1 record, with a 3-1 record in Class 6A Region 4 and is currently holding down the #2 spot in the region. Their lone loss of the season came on a visit to region leader Hueytown (4-3 overall, 4-1 region). Since the Tigers have played on less region game, that puts the Golden Gophers in the top spot. McAdory sits in the third spot and 3-1 and your Jags are holding down the fourth spot at 3-2 in region play. So, Northridge HAS to find a way to play their best football of the year and bring home a win Friday night.
