Introduction
First . . . Welcome to NHS JAGS SPORTS.
I am Michael and in a previous life, I was in the technology world as a business systems analyst with Gulf States/Rock-Tenn/WestRock in Demopolis. In addition to that, I was one of three founding members of The West Alabama Watchman, which started up in 2012. (Prior to forming The Watchman, I shot sports for The Demopolis Times.) The Watchman covered as much news and sports as possible, as three guys with full-time jobs could cover in Marengo County. From the onset, I had the technology and photography responsibilities – setting up the website and taking photos. When one of our members moved, I took over covering sports for the five schools in the county.
My family moved from Demopolis to Tuscaloosa in August of 2022. My wife is a hair and makeup artist and pageant coach. I have a photography studio, Clements Creative Images, located in downtown Northport. I have one son in the ninth grade at Northridge High School and one son in seventh grade at Northridge Middle School. After some time getting settled in (and not shooting any sports for the first time since 2008), I ventured out (camera in hand) to a JAGS baseball game and ended up shooting several baseball and softball games in the spring. Naturally, football season rolled around and I worked out a deal to shoot football games and provide images for the JAGS Yearbook staff.
Over the last few months, I have been made aware of somewhat of a lack of coverage of Northridge sports in the local media. Considering what I had done in my previous life, I decided to make a run at filling in that slack. And that’s where the concept of NHS JAGS SPORTS was born. The goal is to become a repository for NHS Sports information – that will work in conjunction with all of the individual NHS JAGS SPORTS social media pages maintained by resources surrounding Northridge High School (students, faculty and other) – to compile as much of that information as possible, in one place.
We’re just getting started, so please bear with us as we learn and grow. I am working on getting on e-mail lists for stats. When that all gets in place, I will be able to post game stories along with photos (from events that I am able to attend).
