Lady Jags open Thanksgiving Classic with win over Pinson Valley
On the opening day of the 2025 Jaguar Thanksgiving Classic, the Northridge Lady Jags claimed a 54-26 win over the Pinson Valley Indians. The Lady Jags started a little slow, but warmed up to hold a secure lead by halftime. A solid third quarter stretched the lead even more and, while the offensive output chilled considerably, the Lady Jags claimed a 54-26 win on opening night of the tournament.
In somewhat standard fashion, the Lady Jags took a few minutes to get warmed up on the offensive end of the court. After one quarter, Northridge held a slim, 10-8 lead over the Indians. In the second quarter, the Lady Jags got the lid off the basket and, coupled with their menacing full court press, took a 35-12 lead into halftime.
The Lady Jags outscored the Indians 16-7 in the third quarter, to take a 32-point lead at 51-19 after three quarters. Although the shooting subsided considerably in the fourth quarter, the full court pressure made up for the slack in scoring, and Pinson Valley was only able to muster another six points. When the final buzzer sounded, the Lady Jags secured the 54-26 vistory.
Ryan Bardenwerper and Aleia Morrell led the Jags with 15 and 12 points, respectively. La’Miah Foy added seven points. Jakeya Horton and Bayne Brown contributed six points each. Ava Maye and Taylor Ivory chipped in three points apiece.
Foy pulled down eight rebounds for Northridge. Maye had four and Morrell and Horton had three each. Ivory and Brown totaled two rebounds each. Horton and Morrell dished out two assists apiece. Horton collected four steals, with Ivory, Foy, Brown and Morrell adding three steals each.
Northridge will be back in action tonight at 7:00pm, taking on the Dothan High School Wolves.
