Lady Jags Softball recognizes seniors, drops Sipsey Valley 4-2
Northridge Lady Jags softball recognized its seniors on Tuesday at The Ridge and continued the celebration by defeating the visiting Sipsey Valley Lady Bears by a score of 4-2. The Lady Jags jumped out to a 3-0 lead after three innings. The Lady Bears scored two in the top of the fifth and Northridge scored an insurance run in the sixth and blanked Sipsey Valley in the top of the seventh to secure the win for the seniors.

Senior Madelyn Abston scored the first run of the game (1-0), coming around to score on an Anna Cate Henderson single, after leading off with a single and advancing to second on a Riley Hollingshead sacrifice. Anna Cate later scored (2-0) on single by senior Mary Hayes Henderson.
In the third, Hollingshead doubled to get thing started and advanced to third on a sacrifice by Anna Cate Henderson. Hollingshead scored (3-0) on Anna Grace Reed’s grounder to first.
After Sipsey Valley put two runs on the board in the top of the fifth, Northridge added an insurance run in the bottom of the sixth. A Lady Bear error allowed senior Sarah Copeland to reach second base. With two outs, Ava Aaron singled to score Copeland (4-0). The Lady Jags then held Sipsey to claim the 4-0 victory on Senior Night.
Abston, Hollingshead, Anna Cate Henderson, Reed, Mary Hayes Henderson and Aaron collected one hit each for Northridge. Abston, Hollingshead, Anna Cate Henderson and Copeland scored one run each. Anna Cate Henderson, Reed, Mary Hayes Henderson and Aaron were credited with one run each for the Lady Jags.
Caroline Pate completed seven innings in the circle. Pate allowed two runs on eight hits, while striking out two and walking three.
